Today is Ash Wednesday and many people worldwide celebrate "Lent" which begins today and goes through Easter. I know there are a lot of different ways and reasons we choose to take part in this process, but the common factor is for the purpose of sacrifice and growing closer to/meditating on God.

I've always thought "Lent" was really interesting and I'm anxious to know the various things others are "fasting," but I've never followed through with my own. This year, I think it's time to do that.

I've decided to "Fast" money for the next 40 days. Essentials such as Food/Housing/Gasoline will not be included in this, but everything else. Things like clothing, knick knacks, "just because" I want items like cd's, etc. are all out. I know someone who is actually doing this for an entire year!! I'm also going to limit the number of times/money I spend going out to eat.

It's so easy to let the little things add up here and there. It's so easy to dine out everyday too. What are you doing for your lunch break at work today? Haha

Wish me luck! I'll keep you up to date. Please continue to share what you're "Fasting" as well.

How many pounds of Chicken Wings will we consume on Super Bowl Sunday? The answer will make your mind hurt. Check out what the Survey Sez below...

from the Survey Sez
"Chickens probably dread Super Bowl weekend as much as turkeys fear Thanksgiving.  A new food report says Super Bowl Sunday is the second biggest eating day of the year after Thanksgiving, and one of the most popular food items for the big game is chicken wings.  According to the National Chicken Council’s 2012 Wing Report, more than 1.25 billion wing portions will be eaten during this year’s Super Bowl weekend.

According to the report, that's more than 100 million pounds of chicken wings.  If laid end-to-end, the wings would circle the Earth more than two times."

Kids aren't afraid to ask questions. When it comes to those of the science variety these are the top 10 most feared by parents...

Children pummel their parents with questions every day on a wide range of subjects, and now a British survey has found the 10 most feared by moms and dads.  Topping the list: “Why is the moon sometimes out in the day?”

The survey found that 25 percent of British parents find themselves puzzled by their children's science and math questions on a daily basis.  The survey also reveals that 26 percent of parents think their children are more knowledgeable about math and science than they are, with more than half of the parents polled dreading questions about subjects they cannot answer.

The survey found that while one third of parents would conduct research to find the answers to their kids’ questions, many others admitted they would either make up the answers or send the child to the other parent.

The 10 most awkward questions:

1. Why is the moon sometimes out in the day?
2. Why is the sky blue?
3. Will we ever discover aliens?
4. How much does the earth weigh?
5. How do airplanes stay in the air?
6. Why is water wet?
7. How do I do long division?
8. Where do birds/bees go in winter?
9. What makes a rainbow?
10. Why are there different time zones on earth?

The survey of 2,000 parents with children aged 5-16 was commissioned by the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair which takes place in Birmingham, England from March 15-17.
