WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22 -- 9:11AM

Today is Ash Wednesday and many people worldwide celebrate "Lent" which begins today and goes through Easter. I know there are a lot of different ways and reasons we choose to take part in this process, but the common factor is for the purpose of sacrifice and growing closer to/meditating on God.

lent

I've always thought "Lent" was really interesting and I'm anxious to know the various things others are "fasting," but I've never followed through with my own. This year, I think it's time to do that.

I've decided to "Fast" money for the next 40 days. Essentials such as Food/Housing/Gasoline will not be included in this, but everything else. Things like clothing, knick knacks, "just because" I want items like cd's, etc. are all out. I know someone who is actually doing this for an entire year!! I'm also going to limit the number of times/money I spend going out to eat.

It's so easy to let the little things add up here and there. It's so easy to dine out everyday too. What are you doing for your lunch break at work today? Haha

Wish me luck! I'll keep you up to date. Please continue to share what you're "Fasting" as well.

How many pounds of Chicken Wings will we consume on Super Bowl Sunday? The answer will make your mind hurt. Check out what the Survey Sez below...

w

from the Survey Sez
"Chickens probably dread Super Bowl weekend as much as turkeys fear Thanksgiving.  A new food report says Super Bowl Sunday is the second biggest eating day of the year after Thanksgiving, and one of the most popular food items for the big game is chicken wings.  According to the National Chicken Council’s 2012 Wing Report, more than 1.25 billion wing portions will be eaten during this year’s Super Bowl weekend.

According to the report, that's more than 100 million pounds of chicken wings.  If laid end-to-end, the wings would circle the Earth more than two times."

Kids aren't afraid to ask questions. When it comes to those of the science variety these are the top 10 most feared by parents...

kid

Children pummel their parents with questions every day on a wide range of subjects, and now a British survey has found the 10 most feared by moms and dads.  Topping the list: “Why is the moon sometimes out in the day?”

The survey found that 25 percent of British parents find themselves puzzled by their children's science and math questions on a daily basis.  The survey also reveals that 26 percent of parents think their children are more knowledgeable about math and science than they are, with more than half of the parents polled dreading questions about subjects they cannot answer.

The survey found that while one third of parents would conduct research to find the answers to their kids’ questions, many others admitted they would either make up the answers or send the child to the other parent.

The 10 most awkward questions:

1. Why is the moon sometimes out in the day?
2. Why is the sky blue?
3. Will we ever discover aliens?
4. How much does the earth weigh?
5. How do airplanes stay in the air?
6. Why is water wet?
7. How do I do long division?
8. Where do birds/bees go in winter?
9. What makes a rainbow?
10. Why are there different time zones on earth?

The survey of 2,000 parents with children aged 5-16 was commissioned by the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair which takes place in Birmingham, England from March 15-17.

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I'm disorganized.
d

At the end of 2011, so like two weeks ago, I started the process of organizing my house. I have a tendency to collect and keep things I don't need, start projects in one room and just leave them unfinished, put things in random places that I will never find again.

My dear friend knew I was on a mission and she sent me this amazing calendar! It helps you get things organized one day at a time. It makes it easy. Has greats tips and links to additional info. Most importantly it helps you to not get overwhelmed...which is my biggest obstacle.

It's free! Just click on the link and print or save to your desktop! We can totally do this together!

Meet America’s Dopiest Convicted Drug Dealer
Florida felon wore crack cocaine sweatshirt to his court hearing

Sweatshirt

JANUARY 9--The accused drug trafficker who showed up for court wearing a sweatshirt imprinted with a cartoon-like recipe for producing crack is a convicted felon with a lengthy rap sheet who has served prison time for cocaine possession and is currently facing charges for distributing the painkiller oxycodone.

Christopher Patterson, 25, appeared last Friday in a Fort Lauderdale courtroom for a hearing in his felony narcotics case. As seen in the adjacent photo snapped by a lawyer who alerted to his wardrobe choice, Patterson’s colorful sweatshirt carried the slogan “Stack Paper Say Nothing” and included drawings--baking soda, spoons, an open flame--indicating the procedure to cook up a batch of crack (which results, of course, in a stack of bills).

Patterson is pictured in the below mug shot (one of 15 on file with the Broward Sheriff’s Office). The crack sweatshirt, pictured here, is produced by a firm calling itself Stash House. The garment--click here for a closeup--recently caused community outrage in Houston after a TV reporter noted that the item was being sold at a discount department store.
pic
According to court records, Patterson’s January 6 Circuit Court appearance stems from his December 2010 arrest for allegedly trafficking Oxycodone. Busted by Hallandale police, Patterson is free on $30,000 bond and has his movements monitored by a GPS device.

Patterson and a codefendant were arrested during a buy-and-bust operation. An undercover cop arranged to purchase 50 oxycodone tablets from Jerry Smith, who said that his “source” would deliver the painkillers to the buy location, a probable cause affidavit notes. After Patterson arrived with the pills--and the undercover handed over $500--both men were arrested.

Patterson’s lawyer, Joshua Rydell, declined to answer questions about his client’s narcotics case or his choice of court attire (which came with a zipper pull in the shape of a handgun).

Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show that Patterson’s rap sheet dates back to June 2004 and includes collars for larceny, resisting arrest, marijuana possession, probation violations, and failure to appear in court.
Patterson also has several convictions for cocaine possession, which have resulted in varying terms of custody (the longest of which was a year and a day). In December 2008, Patterson was arrested for cocaine distribution, but pleaded out to a reduced possession count. In 2009, he copped to a cocaine distribution charge, for which he was sentenced to four months in the Broward County jail.
